Acceptable Usage Policy

By using this chat service, you agree to conduct yourself in a civil and respectful manner toward other users.

Prohibited Actions:

• Harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeted bullying.
• Spamming, flooding, or automated abuse of the chat.
• Sharing illegal content, malware, or copyrighted material you do not own.
• Impersonating staff members, moderators, or other users.

Consequences for violations may include message deletion, temporary suspension, or permanent ban. Note: if you block another user, any existing private chats (DMs) between you and that user may be removed or you may be forced to leave them. You can also voluntarily leave a DM at any time using the "Leave DM" button in the chat header; leaving updates the participants list and may delete the room if no participants remain.

Privacy Policy

We value your privacy. Here's how we handle your data:

• Public messages: Messages and public media (including voice recordings) are retained only for a limited time and are automatically deleted after 48 hours to protect user privacy.
• Direct Messages (DMs): DMs use End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) and occur in dedicated private rooms. Messages within DMs are encrypted and unreadable by the server. However, if a DM is reported for moderation, the decrypted content may be temporarily stored for review by administrators or moderators. DM rooms may be auto-deleted after prolonged inactivity (see Help). The server may schedule a warning notification before deletion so participants can save important content. You can voluntarily leave a DM at any time using the "Leave DM" button in the chat header; leaving may remove you from the DM and — if no participants remain — cause the room to be deleted.
• IP Addresses: We store IP addresses and connection metadata solely for moderation, security, and banning purposes.
• Passwords: Passwords are stored as secure one-way hashes (bcrypt). Staff cannot view passwords.
• Cookies: We use a single session cookie to maintain login state; no tracking cookies are used.

Chat Commands

• /flip - Flip a coin (Heads/Tails).
• /roll [NdS] - Roll dice.
  Ex: /roll (1d20), /roll 2d6.
• /join room (or /room) - Switch to a different room by name.
  Ex: /join General or /room Tech Talk
• /dm user msg (or /msg, /message) - Start a private DM room with a user.
  Ex: /dm John Hello! or /msg John Hello!
• /me action - Send an action message.
  Ex: /me waves hello
• /fight user - Initiate or accept a battle challenge.
  Ex: /fight John
• /poll <question> <option1> <option2> ... - Create a poll in the current room. Supports multi-word options via pipes or quotes. Examples:
  /poll "Favorite dessert?" "Apple Pie" "Banana Split" or /poll Favorite dessert | Apple Pie | Banana Split
• /block username - Block a user to prevent DMs and hide their messages.
  Ex: /block John
• /unblock username - Unblock a previously blocked user.

• /ban username - [Moderator/Admin Only] Ban a user from the platform.
  Ex: /ban John
• /unban username - [Moderator/Admin Only] Unban a previously banned user.
  Ex: /unban John
• /kick username - [Moderator/Admin Only] Kick a user from voice chat.
  Ex: /kick John
• /banip username - [Moderator/Admin Only] Ban a user's IP address from the platform.
  Ex: /banip John
• @user - Mention a user to highlight a message for them in a channel.
  Ex: @John
• #room - Reference a room name (with autocomplete). Type # and press Tab to autocomplete room names.
  Ex: #General or #Tech Talk
• Autocomplete: While typing a message, start a mention with @ or a room reference with #, then press Tab to autocomplete. Press Tab repeatedly to cycle through multiple matches. Username autocomplete only includes users who have recently posted. Room autocomplete includes all available rooms. Shift+Tab preserves normal focus behavior.

Mentioning

• How to mention: Type @ followed by a username (for example @Alice) to mention someone in a room. Mentioned users receive a visible mention indicator (a red @) and, if applicable, a notification depending on their settings.
• Autocomplete: After typing @ you can press Tab to autocomplete usernames; press Tab repeatedly to cycle through matches. Shift+Tab keeps normal focus behavior. Autocomplete only searches users who have recently participated in the room.
• Respect preferences: Mentions respect block/mute settings — users who have blocked you or muted mentions will not receive notifications. You can also disable certain announcement types (for example battle challenges) in Options.
• Abuse: Use mentions responsibly. Repeatedly mentioning users to harass or spam may be considered abuse and can be reported to moderators.

Private Rooms & DMs

• All users can see and join public rooms listed in the Rooms view.
• Regular users can create up to 3 private rooms; moderators and admins can create unlimited private rooms.
• Private rooms can be password protected (optional).
• Direct Messages (DMs): Start a DM by clicking a user's name and choosing Message. DMs are private, E2EE, and stored in dedicated private rooms accessible only to the participants.
• If you block another user, any existing DM between you and that user will be closed and you will be removed from the private chat; in two-person DMs this may also delete the room and its messages. You cannot create a new DM with a user who has blocked you or whom you have blocked.
• DM rooms that have been inactive (no messages) for 48 hours may be scheduled for deletion; the server will send a pre-delete warning 1 hour before automatic deletion and will cancel deletion if activity resumes.
• You can voluntarily leave a DM via the user menu; leaving updates the participants list and may delete the room if no participants remain.
• Tip: When viewing a DM you'll also see a Leave DM button in the chat header next to the room name — click it to leave quickly.

Battle Rooms

• How battles start: Use /fight username to challenge another player; if they accept, the server creates a private two-person "Battle Room" for the match.
• Visibility: Battle rooms are restricted to the two participants and are not visible to other users. A public replay announcement ("View replay") is posted to the General room after a match finishes unless a user has opted out.
• Persistence & replay: Battle rooms and their roll history are preserved for replay and review. Click the "View replay" link in General or join the battle room to open the replay panel.
• Leave / deletion policy: Battle rooms are preserved as replay rooms and cannot be voluntarily left using the regular "Leave DM" action; this prevents accidental removal of replay data. Administrators may still manage or remove rooms if necessary.
• Blocking battles: If you don't want to receive battle challenges or replay announcements, enable Block battle messages / challenges in your Settings (Options > Block battle messages / challenges).
• Fair use: Do not use battles to harass or spam other users. Abusive challenges may be considered harassment and can be reported; repeated abuse may result in moderation action.

Media

• GIFs: Click the GIF button to search and send GIFs via Tenor.
• Audio: Click 🎤 to record and send voice messages.

Reactions

• How to react: Hover over any message to reveal the reactions control (or focus the message with your keyboard). Click an emoji to add your reaction; click the same emoji again to remove it. If somebody already reacted with an emoji, you can click on it to increase the reaction count.
• Available reactions: 💯 ❤️ 🤬 😭 🤔 🙂 🤣 😱 🎉 👍
• Accessibility: Use Tab to focus a message to reveal the reactions control for keyboard users.

System Messages

• What they are: System messages are generated by the server (for example: room notices, battle events, scheduled deletion warnings, or administrative notifications) and appear centered in the chat.
• Behavior: When a system message arrives for a room you are not viewing it may mark that room with a temporary unread indicator. System messages shown in a chat are removed from the view after 5 minutes to keep the conversation focused.
• Privacy & moderation: System messages are created by the server and do not contain private keys or encrypted material; any DM content included in a system notice was provided by the client or included as part of a moderated report.

Security & Retention

• Direct Messages: DMs are End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) and occur in private rooms. Messages are encrypted end-to-end and cannot be read by the server. However, if you report a DM for moderation, the decrypted content will be included in the report for review by administrators or moderators.
• Retention: Public messages and media are removed automatically after 48 hours. DM rooms are encrypted and may be auto-deleted after a period of inactivity — participants will receive a warning 1 hour prior to automatic deletion. If activity resumes, the scheduled deletion will be cancelled.
• Blocking: Blocking a user prevents new DMs and will remove you from existing DMs with that user; in two-person DMs the room may be deleted when one participant is removed.

User Options

• Reporting: Click on any message (not your own) to reveal a report button. Use it to report inappropriate content for moderator review. For DMs, the decrypted content will be included in the report.
• Blocking Users: Click a username to Block/Unblock them. Blocking prevents DMs and removes you from existing DMs with that user.
• Settings: Click ⚙️ Options to access:
  • Content Filters: Block all GIFs, audio messages, or incoming DMs.
  • Password: Change your account password.
  • Private Rooms: View and delete your created private rooms.
  • Blocked Users: Manage your blocked users list with search and pagination.

Moderation

Admins (Gold) and Moderators (Teal) keep the chat safe. Please follow the rules!
